Implicit Bias

Implicit bias is when we hold attitudes toward or assign stereotypes to a group of people without awareness or intentional control based on their color, ethnicity, gender, age, weight, disabilities, country of origin, appearance, etc. Implicit bias is built over a lifetime of messages and experiences and often results in prejudice, discrimination, and at the very least, misunderstanding and miscommunication.
